Dans ces centrales, 54 groupes de turbines d&rsquo;une puissance install\u00e9e d&rsquo;environ 93 m\u00e9gawatts produisent en moyenne environ 530 millions de kWh d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 par an. Cela permet d&rsquo;alimenter environ 330 000 foyers en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9. En outre, l&rsquo;\u00e9mission d&rsquo;environ 490 000 tonnes de CO2 est \u00e9vit\u00e9e. Les centrales au fil de l&rsquo;eau sont construites sur des rivi\u00e8res, dont certaines ont une faible d\u00e9clivit\u00e9 mais un d\u00e9bit \u00e9lev\u00e9. L&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 produite dans les centrales au fil de l&rsquo;eau est utilis\u00e9e pour compl\u00e9ter une partie des besoins requis dans le r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique. Les turbines et les g\u00e9n\u00e9rateurs peuvent fonctionner sans interruption, sauf en cas de s\u00e9cheresse extr\u00eame ou d&rsquo;inondation. La plupart des centrales au fil de l&rsquo;eau sont construites selon la m\u00eame concept : un barrage avec plusieurs vannes pouvant \u00eatre ferm\u00e9es permet de retenir l&rsquo;eau de la rivi\u00e8re. Ce fluide d&rsquo;\u00e9tanch\u00e9it\u00e9 est \u00e9galement n\u00e9cessaire pour les joints d&rsquo;arbre des paliers de turbine et doit \u00eatre particuli\u00e8rement propre et exempt d&rsquo;impuret\u00e9s pour garantir un bon fonctionnement. \u00c0 cette fin, une petite quantit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;eau de la rivi\u00e8re est pr\u00e9lev\u00e9 et finement filtr\u00e9 via un filtre automatique.
