MAHLE acquires Norddeutsche-Filter-Vertriebs GmbH (NVF) and AKO Filter GmbH, followed two years later by the Amafilter Group, based in Alkmaar, Netherlands. From 2011 MAHLE operates Filtersysteme GmbH and MAHLE Industriefiltration GmbH in Öhringen as two independent companies inside the Group.
MAHLE acquires Tennex Group based in Tokyo, Japan, and production sites in Thailand, in the USA, Great Britain and in the Philippines. Tennex specializes in the manufacture of filtration systems for the automotive industry.
MAHLE acquires Purolator Öhringen, but allows continued production of the filtration systems under the recognized brand. After the licensing agreement expires in 1990, filters from Öhringen are marketed exclusively under the Knecht and MAHLE brands.
The Purolator subsidiary in Öhringen assumes full responsibility for the European market. In the same year Mahle joins the company Knecht, which makes filters for Purolator.
The US firm Purolator builds the first site of an international subsidiary in Öhringen. Along with filters for vehicles, industrial filters have been produced since 1966.
