CHEMISTRY AS AN INNOVATION DRIVER FOR THE FUTURE

The development of new materials to solve pressing future questions is one of the great challenges of the 21st century. These new materials are the key to shaping the future. Among other things, they must enable the sustainable use of resources, sustainable energy supply, mobility, consumption and new diagnostic and therapeutic options in health care. A deeper understanding of materials and substances, their chemical nature, functionalization, processing and application possibilities form the basis in the chemical industry.

POP – LONG-LIVED ORGANIC POLLUTANTS

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are organic compounds that are very stable due to their chemical properties and are therefore only degraded or converted in the environment very slowly or practically not at all (persistence). The substances accumulate in the food chain and have undesirable effects on human health and the environment. In addition, they are spread worldwide via water or air and lead to increasing pollution even in less industrialized and less populated areas.

CUSTOMER BENEFIT

  • FGI Automatic Metal Edge Filters guarantee the customer process safety by efficient filter cleaning
  • End customer relies on Filtration Group’s many years of experience and expertise in the chemical industry
  • Precise separation quality according to the edge gap principle
  • Low life-cycle costs, since no filter material is used
  • Cleaning without interruption of filtration

WHAT DOES FILTRATION GROUP INDUSTRIAL CONTRIBUTE TO THIS?

Our customer China National BlueStar (Group) Ltd. manufactures chemical products. The company produces and sells organic silicon, methionine, new chemical materials and pet food. The FGI automatic metal edge filter is used in the production process for pre-filtration and fine filtration of the so called POP materials. The compact inline filter system is especially designed for the Chinese market according to the high requirements of the working temperature of 150 °C. All filter components and tubes must be ground for mirror effect.

The cleaning process is performed by rotating the filter element against a spring-loaded scraper. Due to the modular system of the FGI metal edge filters, up to three filter elements can be arranged on top of each other if required to enable high throughput capacities. For this application, Filtration Group Industrial has selected an automatic metal edge filter, type AF 7570 and AF 7380. A coil with 80 µm fineness was recommended for fine filtration and a 200 µm variant for pre-filtration. Filtration Group Industrial was able to successfully apply its many years of service and development expertise at national level as a reference for the international project.
